    • Absolutely Fantastic Villa

The Location is amazing, the views are to die for and the villa is a lot better than the photos, its a lovely place and very large with everything you need provided, the town is larger than we thought with plenty to do, it has quaint little streets with plenty of restaurants and free tapas with your drinks which was nice. The pool at the villa was very private and well laid out with flowers everywhere the villa is furnished to a high standard and felt like home from home, we will definitely book this villa again as the three weeks we spent there were great, and it helps when the owner Graham gave us all the information we needed when we booked and continued to stay in contact prior to our arrival giving tips and advise on the area. Thank you Graham

Owner Response: Hi Tony, we are very pleased that ou enjoyed your stay so much and look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

    • Villa exceeded expectations

Reviewed by Paddy Earp from UK on July 03, 2017 for their trip during June 03, 2017

I am delighted to say that we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in La Herradura. The villa itself exceeded our expectations. It was of a very high standard, fitted out with quality fixtures and fittings, clean and tidy. Paco came twice a week to tend to the pool and gardens which, I may say, speaking as a gardener myself, were absolutely beautiful. The pool a great hit not only with the kids but with all of us. The view across the bay from the terraces was absolutely stunning.Being our first family holiday abroad I was, to say the least, a little apprehensive. However, Costa Tropical Villas looked after us very well, Rachel in particular, who meet us personally, escorted us to the villa, and showed us around. Having no Spanish myself, she kindly arranged for a taxi to collect us on our day of departure! A big thank you Rachel.

    • Fantastic Villa

Fantastic villa set high on a hill overlooking the seaside town of Almunecar on Spain's Costa Tropical. We stayed as a family of four, but there is ample space for up to eight guests. The villa has a lovely garden with lots of separate areas to eat, drink rioja or simply soak in the sun. And of course there's the pool to cool off in, when it all gets too hot.The villa has an interesting design with the main rooms spread across a number of levels in the upper part of the property and the bedrooms situated lower down. This gives several rooms, especially the sun lounge, spectacular views over Almunecar - all the better to watch the sunrise over the town or observe the lights of the promenade after dusk. The layout of the villa does mean that there are a number of steps in the house and the garden and this makes it less suitable for those with very young children, or those with mobility problems.Although we stayed at the end of May/beginning of June when the temperatures hadn't climbed too high, we were gratified to note that the air-conditioning worked well to cool the rooms.Locally, Almunecar has a number of beaches with numerous restaurants along the seafront and in the town itself. There are numerous local attractions, but to be honest we mainly relaxed at the villa and only went on one long trip - to the Alhambra in Granada, about an hour away (book online ahead of your holiday)All in all, a fantastic place to spend a week or two and we will definitely be returning in the not to distant future.

The house is wonderfully spacious and nothing can prepare you for the amazing panoramic view of the coastline and surrounding hills. The choice of restaurants and tapas bars in the area is also excellent. Mama Rosa just down the road is fabulous not to mention the aptly named Los Herranious Restaurant with live Flamenco. There are also several historic sights to see and the bird park is popular with tourists and locals alike. The property is perched up on a hill and it is about 10 minutes walk to the sea front. This is a pleasant stroll on the way down (although still works out your thigh muscles) and on the way back up you will definitely burn some calories! We found that we soon got used to the hill though, and if you don't fancy the climb, there is a longer more gentle way up around the back. Almunecar has a laid back, down to earth vibe compared to come of it's neighbours. Here we really felt we were able to get away from the hustle and bustle of Nerja and other bigger costal towns. Yet it is still nice to drive out and visit these places. Grenada, home to the stunning Alhambra is also only an hour away. Transport connections are great with Malaga also only an hour away in the opposite direction. I would highly recommend this property. It is grand and luxurious but also unassuming and very Spanish.

    • A characterful Spanish Villa, with sea views.

      Reviewed by Scott H.

I visited Almunecar for the first time in September and this was my first visit to the South Coast of Spain, and I couldn't think of a more delightful Villa and location to have stayed in. Villa Los Geranios is spacious and extremely clean, with multiple bedrooms and areas to eat which all offer a different experience. You can eat indoors in a large open living area, on the balcony overlooking the town of Almunecar, on the back patio under the lights or by the pool. The Villa is well equipped with all mod-cons and offers a comfortable and modernised stay within a more classicly designed outlay. The key attraction for myself with the Villa was the breathtaking views that you are treated to through day and night, offering a tremendous view across the whole bay of Almunecar. You can easily lose hours just sat by the large open windows, soaking in the view and listening to the sound of the sea. This is where the Villa being situated at the top of a large hill really comes into its own, and making the uphill walk completely worthwhile. Beyond the Villa itself, Almunecar is a delightful small town and sits by the sea. Hiring a car would be a real plus as it would mean you can explore other nearby towns and go on excursions which require only a convenient drive - the plus being the majority of these journeys are coastal and provide a fantastic view on both sides. Villa Los Geranios is a place I will (and already have) recommended to my family and friends and is a place I will 100% revisit. If you are planning to visit the South Coast of Spain for a break away from the more tourist popular locations, I would recommend that Almunecar and Villa Los Geranios are your first and last choices.

Los Geranios is a beautiful villa and looks just as good as in the photos! It is located at the top of a hill which makes for some fantastic views of Almunecar. The property its self is very clean, spacious and well equipped with top-spec TV, wifi, white-goods and all the necessary kitchen utensils etc. The private pool gets the sun all day and there is a wonderful outdoor kitchen/bbq area. It is less than 10 mins walk to the beach where the restaurants begin, which we found to be ideal - peace and quiet at night time! All in all, we had a brilliant time staying at this villa and I would highly recommend it. 5 stars from the whole family!

I had a fantastic time at at Villa Los Geranios! The views from the villa are incredible and there was nothing better than waking up and watching the sun rise over the sea whilst eating my breakfast. The villa was spacious, clean, nicely decorated and in a great location. Almunecar old town is very quaint and pretty and I would highly recommend a trip to the castle. We also had a few days skiing in the beautiful resort of Sierra Nevada which was only an hour and half drive away. It was amazing to have the beach and mountains all in one holiday, I would definitely recommend staying here!

We have just returned from a wonderful week at Los Geranios in Almunecar. The villa was everything that we could have expected, with lovely views over the bay and to the snow-capped Sierra Nevadas in the distance behind. It is comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The gardens are beautiful with plenty of shady spots to eat and read outside and sun traps to work on that tan. The pool is ideal for cooling off afterwards. There is plenty to do in Almuneca which has a nice promenade, an interesting old town and a castle amongst other things. If you don’t want to get the car out, there are plenty of local walks with information about them provided in the villa.

With incredible views from the sunroom to the private pool and beautiful gardens the villa made our holiday complete! We walked down into the town most nights but also enjoyed dinners and lunches around the pool and on the terrace as the villa accommodates for dining inside and out! The private pool area was wonderful and really allowed us to fully relax and enjoy our holiday in peace! Fiona Mclaughlin

We stayed in the villa as a group of 5 friends, and couldn't have wished for a better stay. The apartment has a wonderful view over the coastline, at the top of the hill, and is a short walk into town, meaning that you get the privacy as well as the access. The apartment was very airy and spacious, with beautiful flowers and tiles outside. The kitchen was well equipped and we had many nights in, enjoying the apartment. Overall, would definitely recommend to others.

While this is not a modern villa I think its better for it as it has character. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay but where it is a real winner is in outdoor space and views. The terraces around the villa are beautiful with the flowers and shrubs in bloom. The view from the sun/dining room is simply stunning either by day or night. The price for the view is that you are on top of a very steep hill and I would say that a car is a must as the restaurants/shops etc are at the bottom . The swimming pool is enclosed making it easy to isolate from small children. The town of Almunecar has plenty to offer in restaurants and the Castle and the old town are great to explore.

Just back from a relaxing week staying here with my family. The villa itself is beautiful and can have 8 people to stay comfortably. The property was extremely clean and well maintained, and had everything we needed to relax, cook our own meals when necessary and enjoy the pool! The villa itself is only a 10 minute walk away from all the bars and restaurants of Almunecar and the beach itself. Nestled up in the hills, it is very private and quiet too. Would definitely recommend as the perfect place for a group of family or friends to stay.

    • Living Room view with a wow factor.

      Reviewed by Peter C.

The villa was lovely, especially the view over the beach at Almunecar. It was spacious and well equipped. There was detergent for the washing machine and dishwasher and plenty of crockery and glasses. Very sensibly there were plastic glasses available too for around the pool. We couldn't leave the doors or windows open without letting in two pretty kittens that seemed to belong to the place. It was quite easy to lock yourself out so we kept the spare keys in the outside keysafe - and used them several times. A few of the electrical sockets were not secure in the wall and will need attention over the winter. The location is great for the view - we could see sun on the beach and snow on the mountains. The road down to the beach is very steep and narrow. It is a 10 minute walk down and a 15 minute walk back for a fit 70 year old and a 5 year old. Maybe another 5-10 minutes to a choice of churros and lunch places. Our hire car struggled and the car from the villa next door failed to make it rather noisily late one night. There is a longer slightly less steep alternative route down. The living room and master bedroom have seriously big air conditioning units, the other bedrooms rather smaller ones. In October these weren't needed.
